Strata projects for OP-XY
John Gorton“I’ve created a collection of projects for users of my Strata sound pack, showcasing how the OP-XY can be used as an ambient machine. Each project features six channels looping the same sample or preset, but with different loop sizes, start/end points, and LFO modulation applied to samples and filters. This creates evolving, phase-shifting textures in the style of Steve Reich and William Basinski.
With eight available channels, the OP-XY makes it easy to craft rich, layered tape loop textures. No sequencer is used—just the Hold players—allowing the loops to run continuously and naturally shift over time. While this technique is powerful on its own, the real magic happens when you start mixing different presets across the channels for even more depth and variation.
Each project is named after the sample or preset used, making it easy to explore different textures. Whether you’re looking to create hypnotic loops or lush ambient soundscapes, these projects offer a unique way to get the most out of the OP-XY. I’ve also put together a tutorial showing exactly how I built these, so you can dive in and experiment with your own sounds!”
Also to install you will need to copy projects to your user folder and copy workspace file to your main project folder. You may have to save your own workspace folder on to your computer so you dont lose your own projects.
